(MEXICO CITY) — An attack on a bar in Mexico’s Gulf coast city of Coatzacoalcos killed 26 people and injured about a dozen, officials said Wednesday, and they said it was apparently overseen by a man who had been recently arrested but released.
“The criminals went in, closed the doors, the emergency exits, and set fire to the place,” President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said at his daily morning news conference.
Veracruz state police said the Tuesday night attack targeted the “Bar Caballo Blanco,” or “White Horse Bar.” It advertised “quality, security and service,” private rooms for $7.50 “all night,” ”sexy girls” and a pole dance contest.
It is located just off a busy commercial street in Coatzacoalcos, a city whose main industry has long been oil and oil refining.

@nascar has reportedly banned all advertisements featuring assault weapons due to a “gradual shift” in the company’s position on guns.
“We just heard from NASCAR on a number of gun-related ads and unfortunately, due [to] a gradual shift in NASCAR’s position on guns, these ads must be edited/changed—especially those that are depicted as assault-style rifles/sniper rifles,” National Event Publications said in an email to an online gun retailer. “NASCAR is still open to some of the less controversial gun accessories, concealed carry, or classes."
The retailer, K-Var, was attempting to purchase advertising in NASCAR’s advertising book for the final 26 races of the year. The publisher of the magazine wrote back earlier this month to say the advertisement had been denied.
NASCAR has relationships with multiple other gun retailers, including Gander Sports and Bass Pro Shops, which sell guns. The Bristol night race is co-sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and the National Rifle Association, the largest gun lobby in the United States.
NASCAR has not issued an official statement on its position, which was relayed through the third-party publisher.
The shift is likely in response to the series of mass shootings in the United States, the majority of which have been committed using assault weapons. This has led for numerous calls for the ban of assault rifles, though no legislation has been introduced.

Developed and designed with @Tyrdefenseindustries, #TheADVOCATE is a my signature series VP9.
#TheADVOCATE comes in two packages. The Full ADVOCATE Packages & THE ADVOCATElite
The ADVOCATElite has the Noir slide cuts and stippled frame. The slide is cut for the Trijicon RMR and comes with a RMR plate installed. Lastly, the slide is finished in a DLC coating that is the closet to a black mirror finish that you will find.
The Advocate is the full package. It includes everything that the ADVOCATElite includes plus much more.
1. The stock trigger is replaced with a Lobos trigger.
2. Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight and blacked out rear are installed.
3. We include a QD back plate
4. Enhanced striker sleeve
5. Two different weight recoil springs for optimal performance
6. For those who want to shoot suppressed we include a threaded barrel. Both the threaded and non threaded barrels are fluted and coated. The threaded barrel is finished in the same DLC coating as the slide and you have your choice of DLC or NiB coatings for the non threaded barrel.
7. With the full version of The Advocate you have the choice of going with the Noir Urban Camo slide instead of DLC. This adds another dimension when looking at this firearm.
8. Everything is then placed in a water proof and crush proof hard case with precut foam.
